HR Ministry to cooperate with MACC over suspected embezzlement probe

PUTRAJAYA: The Human Resources Ministry will extend its full cooperation with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in the latter’s investigation over alleged misappropriation of government funds. Yesterday, MACC arrested four people, including a Datuk, at several locations in Kuala Lumpur for their alleged involvement in embezzlement of funds slated for the Skills Development Fund Corporation (PTPK). In a statement today, Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot Anak Jaem said the ministry will support MACC’s effort to fight corruption. “The ministry guarantees its full cooperation to the MACC and will leave it to the commission to carry out its investigations into the allegation,” he said. PTPK was established in June 2006 under the Skills Development Fund Act 2004 (Act 640) to manage the Skills Development Fund, which was previously run by the Skills Development Fund Division under the Human Resources Ministry.
