HK maintains measures amid global virus pandemic

Dr Wong Ka-hing, left, says Hong Kong will continue to focus on containment of the new coronavirus disease. Speaking on an RTHK radio program, the center’s controler Dr Wong Ka-hing said there are still new infections almost daily in Hong Kong and the situation here is not yet under control. In response to a Hong Kong resident being confirmed to have the virus 10 days after completing a 14-day quarantine period, Wong said some patients do have extra long incubation periods. But he said he doesn't believe there is a need to change the 14-day quarantine requirement, as studies have indicated that the average incubation period for the virus is only five days. Wong added that more than 90 percent of patients have an incubation period of less than 14 days.-Photo: RTHK
