HK aims net zero carbon emissions by 2050


The Council for Sustainable Development completed their study on Hong Kong's long-term carbon reduction strategy. A total of 55 suggestions have been put forward by the Council for Sustainable Development, for Hong Kong to work towards being a carbon zero city by 2050. The Council has completed a study on Hong Kong's long-term carbon reduction strategy and formulated 55 recommendations covering 8 areas. The chairman of the Council, Arthur Li Kwok-cheung, said the goal for Hong Kong to progressively achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050 is an aggressive goal. “As an advanced city with well-developed infrastructure, talents and financial resources, Hong Kong should be able to set an ambitious decarbonization goal for itself,” Li added.
