The High Court bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahsan and Justice Kamrul Quader passed the order after hearing a supplementary petition on Monday. Advocate Manzil Murshid filed the supplementary petition on behalf of Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). The High Court bench also instructed there be a way to determine the "economic life" of a vehicle under the Road Transport Act, and that vehicles whose lifespan exceed the economic life be taken off the streets. The bench also set a date for February 2 for the director general of the Department of Environment to appear before the court and explain what steps have been taken to curb pollution.
