Meanwhile, Ethiopian and Eritrean government forces on Thursday launched an attack in Ethiopia’s northern region of Tigray, targeting rebel forces. TPLF, the party that controls Tigray, dominated the government for nearly three decades until Abiy Ahmed became prime minister in 2018.
