Gujarat Congress cries foul over speaker's hesitance to disqualify BJP MLA Pabubha Manek

A Congress delegation led by Gujarat Congress president Amit Chavda and Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani on Wednesday sought disqualification of BJP MLA Pabubha Manek in connection with his 'defective' nomination form. "The speaker is being partial," said Congress leaders after meeting with speaker Rajendra Trivedi. Citing the partial behaviour of the speaker, the Congress leaders speaking to the media said that while Trivedi was quick to disqualify Congress MLA Bhagvan Barad and independent MLA Bhupendrasinh Khant, he was not showing similar urgency when it came to BJP MLAs. Khant, an independent MLA from Morva Hadaf in Panchmahal district, was disqualified on May 3, weeks after the HC invalidated his caste certificate. Congress leaders said Speaker Trivedi was quick to disqualify Congress MLA Bhagvan Barad and independent MLA Bhupendrasinh Khant but the similar urgency was missing when it came to BJP MLAs
