Guinness World Record attempt falls short in South InvercargillEugene Bonthuys/Stuff South Alive's attempt at an official Guinness World Record for the number of people patting each other on the back fell short on Sunday with 185 people taking part in the attempt in South Invercargill. An attempt by South Alive to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous chain of people patting each other on the back in Invercargill fell short on Sunday afternoon. However, after all the participants had been counted into the record attempt area, the counter stopped at 185, short of the number required for an official record. South Alive manager Cress Evans said even though the morning started out rainy, the organisers were positive things would improve. She said now that some experience had been gained in terms of how to conduct a record attempt, there was definitely an appetite to make another attempt next year.
