Guan Eng: No risk of recession in Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA (Feb 6): Malaysia is not heading into a recession despite the government's plan to expedite implementation of an economic stimulus package, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said today. Lim said the country is "free" of such risks, and that the soon-to-be unveiled stimulus package is to ensure the local economy remains intact. "There's no risk of recession in Malaysia. Lim, however, remained tightlipped on what the package would entail, and said an official announcement on the matter will be made soon. The ministry's economic stimulus package was initially planned to prepare for the uncertainty pertaining to the ongoing US-China trade war, with a later implementation date.
