Lim Guan Eng said that total petrol and diesel subsidies for the first 11 months of last year amounted to RM4.89bil, and that the Pakatan Harapan government did not profit from retail fuel prices. If and when the automatic pricing mechanism (APM) prices drop further, the Government will adjust the pricing downward so that Malaysians will benefit from cheaper fuel prices," he said. If APM prices, however, increase, retail prices would be stabilised at the current levels fixed at RM2.20 per litre for RON95 and RM2.18 for diesel. However, on Monday (Dec 31), the government announced that the retail prices of fuel would remain unchanged for the first week of 2019. On Wednesday (Jan 2), petrol dealers met with Dr Mahathir to highlight their concerns over the weekly float system.
