THE Philippine Green Building Council wants local government units (LGUs) to support the construction of more green buildings across the country, its top official said on Wednesday. He pointed out that not everyone is fully aware of the concept of green building. “There are a lot of expectations and perceptions about green, if it’s painted green, if it’s full of landscaping.”Hence, the PHILGBC, a member of the World Green Building Council, intends to increase the awareness on green buildings by conducting talks and symposia, as well as educating the people. Green buildings, aside from having lower maintenance and operating costs, can increase the value of a real estate property. Green buildings can also generate significant savings in electricity and water bills.
