A South Canterbury kapa haka group is making waves at national level and showcasing the region. The group, based at the Te Aitarakihi Multi-Cultural Centre in Timaru, completed a 25 minute set of seven performances, captured and screened by Māori Television. "The reason why we entered this year was to bring Te Aitarakihi to showcase Aoraki to the wider region. Te Aitarakihi Trust chairwoman Raeleen de Joux said the group was an example of "Maori leadership at its best".
