Lance Tapiki's belongings were stolen while he was at a tangi for his grandfather Joseph Tapiki (pictured). Having his belongings stolen was the last thing Lance Tapiki expected to happen while he was at a tangi for his grandfather. Tapiki was at the tangi on Barton Ave in Upper Hutt overnight Thursday when his car was broken into and items costing almost $3000 were taken. Tapiki's grandfather, Joseph Tapiki, was ill in Wellington Regional Hospital but his death on Tuesday was unexpected, Lance Tapiki said. A police spokeswoman said a report was received about 8am on Friday of items being stolen from a car on Barton Ave.
