New research, undertaken by the Irish League of Credit Unions, Energia and House2Home to mark the nationwide launch of the CU Greener Homes scheme found that some 36pc of householders in the west of the country are considering alterations to their home. CU Greener Homes is a new collaborative initiative launched to facilitate home energy efficiency improvements. "CU Greener Homes bring that sustainability element into it and just see was there a market there and to see if there is, what is stopping people and what are the main constraints for people whether they are going for a normal home improvement or going the green route. An innovative energy calculator, located on the CU Greener Homes website, is a very useful piece of technology that will help direct those looking for guidance on where they can make greener improvements. Ms Kearns explains: "On the CU Greener Homes page, they have a calculator there that is actually really useful for people who might not know anything about greener home improvements.
