Developers who sought the re-zoning of 20 hectares of land at Dowdallshill from strategic reserve to new residential promised to give 2.5 hectares of land to Dowdallshill GFC and build a link road to form the northern boundary of the site. Chief Executive Joan Martin said she wouldn't dispute the importance of the link road, saying she would love to see it built. She couldn't see how the council could rezone that quantum of land giving the amount of land zoned around town. Cllr John Reilly said he agreed with Cllr Keelan that the link road was crucial for development going forward. This is close to town and the link road will be built.'
