Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) responded to a grass fire at Omarama Golf Course, just to the north of the township. A Fenz spokesman said the report came in about 1.50pm on Tuesday and two crews were sent from Omarama and one from Otematata. The fire covered about half a hectare of land but no structures were threatened, he said. By 3pm the fire was all mostly out and they were scaling back the crews, he said.
