NEW DELHI : The Union home ministry is now considering a ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) for allegedly instigating students and other groups for stoking violence, even as protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act continue to rage across the country. Singh’s comment on Tuesday on the organization’s alleged involvement in the violence. There are many allegations against them, including a connection with the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI)," Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Wednesday. PFI has been under the home ministry’s scanner for months for alleged “outlawed activities", a senior central government official said on condition of anonymity. The proposal to ban PFI, which allegedly operates out of Kerala, has been in the works after the alleged involvement of some of its members in political killings in the state, besides alleged link to religious conversions and terror activities.
