Govt should reinstate Critical Service Incentive Allowance, say health associations

PETALING JAYA: Five associations representing the interests of health professionals have collectively urged the government to reinstate the Critical Service Incentive Allowance (BIPK). The associations who signed the statement are the Malaysian Medical Association, the Malaysian Nurses Association, the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society, the Malaysian Dental Association and the Malaysian Association of Medical Assistants. They stressed that the nature and scope of the duties of health professionals should be factors in determining whether or not their jobs were considered critical. “The current oversupply of health professionals is partially because the Health Ministry needs more posts to deliver effective healthcare to Malaysians. “Labelling health as non-critical is a signal that it is not important, which can reduce the public’s trust in our health service.
