The plot of land is about 0.5120 acres, according to a notice signed by the land ministry’s Deputy Secretary Md Aminur Rahman on Thursday. The lease of the land at Ramchandrapur Mouza in Mohammadpur has been scrapped since the land is categorised as a ‘canal’ in RS record, the notice read. Bannya established the Rabindra Sangeet education institute Surer Dhara in 1992. Bangladesh previously recognised Bannya’s contributions to music and her promotion of Tagore’s music with an Independence Award in 2016. She was the first Rabindra Sangeet singer to receive the honour.
