So much so, the Ministry of Finance also did not mention deliberations over the wheat support price in its official handout issued after the meeting. The wheat support price is the rate at which the government procures the commodity from farmers. According to various studies, 10% increase in wheat support price leads to an increase of 2% to 3% in overall inflation. There was also disagreement among the provinces over the wheat support price. As against Rs1,400 minimum support price, the wheat is available on an average of Rs2,200 per 40kg.
