Govt bailout for big firms rejected – poll – The Manila Times

The majority of Metro Manila residents reject the proposed allocation of state funds for bailouts of big businesses that suffered significant losses during the economic slowdown caused by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, according to a PUBLiCUS Asia Inc. poll. According to the company, financial support for big businesses was the only one of the nine existing or proposed Covid-19-related policies tested by the survey that failed to garner majority support. According to him, there are a million local micro, small and medium enterprises, which make up 99.52 percent of businesses in the country. Of these, 50 percent are into wholesale or retail trade, contributing 63 percent of the country’s total employment force. The number of respondents from each city was distributed proportionally based on official population data.
