The Senate public accounts committee has said it is in the best interest of governors to appear before them as scheduled and advertised. Nyong'o's remarks came in response to threats by governors that they would not appear before the Senate Public Accounts and Investment committee. Committee chairman, Anyang' Nyong'o said on Tuesday that governors must be present to answer queries on county expenditure raised by the Auditor General. Council of Governors chairman, Peter Munya said governors would not attend sittings until "the demeaning treatment and unwarranted attacks" against some of them is addressed. Munya said some of the county bosses have been disrespected during appearances and that "the council takes great exception to such treatment of governors".
