Governors blew millions of taxpayer money on white elephant projects - Ouko

Damning reports by the auditor general have indicted governors for allegedly blowing up millions of taxpayers' money on white elephant projects. In his reports for 2015-16 financial year, Edward Ouko puts on the spot county bosses for abandoning ambitious projects despite pumping in millions of shillings. Ouko reveals in the reports for the year ending June 30, 2016 that some of the projects stalled, raising questions on their viability given some were initiated without feasibility studies. "Five projects, budgeted to cost Sh261 million on aggregate, had stalled with Sh40.9 million already spent on them. The management has however not explained how it will ensure the stalled projects are revived and completed for the benefit of the residents of Uasin Gishu."
