CAMERON BURNELL/FAIRFAX NZ Labour leader Andrew Little said Housing NZ was being treated as a "cash cow" by the Government. Back in May, Green Party co-leader Metiria Turei said the Government should allow Housing NZ to keep its dividend, while also refunding its tax. The revelation comes after Labour joined the Greens in calling for the Government to scrap the dividend and instead reinvest in in Housing NZ. Associate Finance Minister Steven Joyce has hinted Housing NZ will not have to pay a dividend to the Government for the next two years.
