In a media briefing on Tuesday, the Minister said contracts were awarded to private companies and agreed with the ministry to pay some monies, but the companies failed to do so. She said they attributed their failure to pay to high electricity tariffs that swept off their profits. After a meeting with the ministry, she said they called on the energy ministry to reduce the tariffs on the cold stores. According to her, the Attorney General said once the companies breeched the contract by not paying, the ministry had the right to terminate their contracts and keep the facility for the state.
