Five more disease control experts were dispatched to Mandera County on Tuesday as State moved to tackle Cholera and Chikungunya outbreaks. A total of 1213 Cholera cases have been reported since April 12 in the region with a further 777 cases of Chikungunya diagnosed since May. Mandera County has also scaled up hygiene and sanitation measures to control and prevent the spread of Cholera, added the CS. In a statement Tuesday, Health CS Cleopa Mailu said the specialists will offer technical support and train local health officers. At least 18 have died in the county from the effects of cholera; the number, according to the CS, has gone down following government interventions.
