According to the Deputy Managing Director of MMT, Haroun Apaw Wiredu, these buses were auctioned in the period leading up to the 2024 general elections, with some reportedly sold for as little as GH¢2,500. Bukari also emphasised that the relevant authorities are still working on the matter to ensure clarity and transparency in Metro Mass Transit’s operations. Over 700 Metro Mass Transit buses sold as scrap under NPP government – Deputy MD“As for the auctions, this is the information we have, but the boards are reviewing them to determine whether they were conducted properly and whether the prices were justified,” he added. We have introduced measures in collaboration with the unions, and I believe these will bring some relief to our commuters,” he said.
