Opposition parties on Saturday demanded the resignations of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and health minister Siddharth Nath Singh over the deaths of 63 children in Gorakhpur’s Baba Raghav Das Medical College in five days. A delegation comprising senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad, Raj Babbar, Pramod Tiwari and RPN Singh met the doctors and patients. Adityanath and health minister Siddharth Nath Singh should immediately resign from their post,” said Azad. “While all those responsible must be charged with criminal culpability accounting to murder,...there is a moral dimension which the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and his health minister must take responsibility for and resign immediately,” Tiwari said. They were directed by an “extremely unhappy” chief minister to inspect the situation at the state-run facility and take strict action against those responsible, an official said.
