During interviews on the first day of training camp, Auston Matthews was quite effervescent (and positive) when he was asked about Toronto. He avoided comments about the contract, but noted that “I really love playing in the city of Toronto, I consider it home now.”Speculation Was that Matthews Was Sure to LeaveThat’s good news for those who want Matthews to stay with the Maple Leafs, which should be almost everyone I would think. And it’s more positive than Maple Leafs’ fans have dared to have hoped in a while. That would make sense; and, in truth, it would be silly to think that Matthews probably hasn’t thought about it.
