A painting believed to be an original by one of New Zealand's most famous artists has been stolen in a Hamilton burglary. Looking at a photo of the stolen painting, Webb's auction house head of art Charles Ninow said the piece appears to be an original worth “well over half a million dollars”. The increase in price is due to fewer and fewer Goldie paintings being put on the market, he said. Police are now appealing to members of the public for any information or possible sightings of the man’s painting and other art works. In addition to the Goldie numerous other unique artworks and antiques were also stolen, including a Koch and Bergfeld cutlery set.
