Down the valley, we get our first view of Machu Picchu Mountain, but the famous “Lost City” itself is still hidden from view. Wiñaywayna is the most spectacular Inca site on the trail after Machu Picchu and the most popular campsite because of its proximity to Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu and the other sites were built in the mid 1400s, over a period of about 60 years.
