In nearly every developed country, aging populations pose among the largest threats to government spending, workforce shortages, and social support structures over the next 30 years. It’s great and important that some countries have acknowledged and begun efforts to address the effects of global warming, including larger public awareness of the problem. But we may require equal awareness of global aging. Where, and in what type, of “homes” will aging populations live? The world may get warmer, requiring us to move to locations featuring less chaotic weather and distance from coastal flooding.
