BTS’s Jimin rang out 2018 with a new song, and he’s starting 2019 with a new achievement: SoundCloud confirmed today that his solo “Promise” broke the site’s record for the best first-day debut ever after he shared it on Dec. 31. According to SoundCloud, Jimin’s song achieved 8.5 million streams within its first 24 hours of being made available. “Promise” surpassed the record set by Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle’ last May by 3.6 million streams, according to SoundCloud. The song, released as a response to Push-T's inflammatory diss track "Infrared," recorded 4.9 million streams on the site within 24 hours of its release. Jimin's song is currently the second most-listened-to track on BTS's joint SoundCloud account, following behind RM and V's "4 O'Clock," which currently records 16.2 million listens.
