Jürgen Klopp wants Premier League clubs to be drawn away from home against “smaller teams” in the FA Cup in exchange for scrapping replays and easing fixture congestion. Liverpool travel to Sky Bet League One side Shrewsbury Town on Sunday for an FA Cup fourth-round tie, aware that a draw would result in a replay when the Premier League leaders are supposed to be on their winter break. Klopp thinks that a change in the rules, allowing lower-league opposition home advantage against top-flight sides, would negate the need for FA Cup replays, with a penalty shoot-out used to decide the tie in the event of a draw. “Replays in the FA Cup? Have a penalty shoot-out,” the Liverpool manager said.
