In its quest to ensure the girl child has a proper hygiene and sound health, an NGO, Heal for Africa Initiative donated over 700 sanitary pads to girls in Kogi State. This gesture was just in commemoration of the International Day of Girl Child celebrated world over on every October 11 according to the mandate of the United Nations. It is also important that a girl child understands personal hygiene and how to take care of her body especially during menstruation. A girl child needs to understand how to cater for themselves and be free from distractions emanating from ill health, which translates into better self-perception and self-esteem which enhances their functioning. We hope more well-meaning Nigerians will embrace this challenge and help promote the girl child across Nigeria.
