A rescue operation was launched after reports of a canoeist, 15, getting into trouble on the River Tweed near Kelso, Scottish Borders at around 3.30pm yesterday. Crews were joined by the Borders Water Rescue Team but the girl's body was later recovered from the water, Police Scotland said. The 97-mile River Tweed flows east across the Borders region in Scotland and in northern England.
