The Marvel Universe will soon meld with the mind and direction of Gina Prince-Bythewood, who is set to direct the upcoming adaptation of Spider-Man spinoff Silver & Black. She's also the first black woman to direct a superhero film. In terms of other diversity amongst super hero movie directors, Ryan Coogler, who is black, is set to helm Black Panther and Patty Jenkins, a white woman, directed Wonder Woman. The film will be based on Marvel's Spider-Man universe but will not actually feature Spidey. Prince-Bythewood has not directed an action superhero film before, but her takes on Love & Basketball and Beyond the Lights earned her a legion of fans.
