National basketball team head coach Jong Uichico confirmed the development to The Manila Times on Monday. Gilas was preparing for the final window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers and the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in June. The national team began its new training camp on March 15. Other than Uichico, the Gilas coaching staff were composed by Tab Baldwin, Boyet Fernandez, Caloy Garcia, Alton Lister, Sandy Arespachochaga, Gabby Severino, and Sandro Soriano. As of March 28, the Philippines logged a total of 721,892 Covid-19 cases.
