This season with its spells of hot, sunny days many home gardeners have noticed their broccoli and cabbages wilting in the heat. Club root occurs worldwide and is one of the most serious diseases affecting plants of the mustard or Crucifer family. Club root spores can rest in the garden soil for at least 10 years and can be distributed by machinery, garden tools and roving animals. The home gardener can achieve some control by adding specific lime fertilisers to the soil and by careful crop rotation. Club root can be beaten!
