The German Government, through the German Federal Police, has donated over 8,000 COVID-19 protective equipment to the Nigeria Immigration Service, Federal Ministry of Aviation Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and Port Health Authority. According to von Munchow-pohl, the equipment was donated to commend the resilience of frontline workers in aviation security, migration and to underline the continuous offer for support, assistance and co-operation between the German Federal police and law enforcement agencies in Nigeria. “The protective equipment include 1,008 hand-sanitisers, 350 disposable COVID overalls, 1,008 sanitising spray, 8,400 facemasks, 140 digital infrared temperature readers, three 500 latex gloves and 140 first aid boxes. The donation is a part of the German Police “Training and Equipment Aid Programme” which is set up to provide support for the Nigerian security agencies in the areas of training and provision of equipment, as it concerns aviation security and migration. In 2020, the first batch of COVID-19 protective equipment was donated to the NIS and the Federal Ministry of Aviation.
