Google Maps subsequently reported a trafic congestion which turned out to be fake, according to an article by The Guardian. The Guardian reported that part of Weckert's route to create a virtual traffic jam was walking past Google's Berlin offices. Weckert's stunt was revealed several days before the 15th anniversary of Google Maps' founding which showed the former taking advantage of the "crowdsourced" nature of Google's data collection. “What is the relationship between the art of enabling and techniques of supervision, control and regulation in Google’s maps? A Google spokesperson was quoted as saying,"Whether via car or cart or camel, we love seeing creative uses of Google Maps as it helps us make maps work better over time.”
