The General Election 2024 is finally upon us but voters up and down the country are being warned not to fall foul of a polling station rule which could land you with a £5,000 fine. Today the nation goes to the polls to select its next government, with Labour under Keir Starmer leading the polls while the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Reform all battle it out for the remaining seats. But whoever you plan to vote for, there are rules governing what you can and can’t do inside a polling station. The biggest rule is that you cannot share how someone has voted. The protection of voters right to voting privacy is paramount during an election.
