Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) party wants the Public Service Commission to review the entire human resource with the view of scrapping “unnecessary positions.”MDG party leader David Ochieng’, who is also the MP for Ugenya constituency, said the review will go a long way in taming extravagance in government. “We must stop rewarding the homeboys from the public purse and adhere to meritocracy in appointments to the public service,” he maintained. Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Chairperson Lyn Mengich on Wednesday said the commission would "freeze" the salary increases for state officers due to "the current realities of the economy". The public service wage bill stood at Sh1.1 trillion in the financial year that ended June 2023.
