Gas prices to rise 5 cents per litre in Ontario after pipeline explosion

The prospect of fuel shortages in the Northeastern U.S. has Canadian gasline price analyst Dan McTeague guaranteeing a five-cent-per-litre rise. A fuel pipeline explosion in Alabama is expected to cause a temporary five cent per litre increase in gas prices in Ontario. The good news, said McTeague, is that gas prices should come back down by the weekend. A rise in gas prices is not unusual during shut downs of U.S. pipelines, said McTeague. And although this price change is just temporary, there will likely be a permanent five- to six-cent-per-litre increase in gas prices in the province in 2017, McTeague said.
