Gales, heavy rain again - but it could finally be about to start looking a bit like summerMONIQUE FORD / Fairfax NZ It's another day of big winds and rain - at least in southern and central areas - but there's finally hope things may start improving. Warnings were issued over high winds in Arthur's Pass, through to Springfield, and surface flooding for State Highway 6 from Ross to Fox Glacier, on Wednesday. Winds were expected to peak in Wellington around the middle of the day, along with a burst of rain, Marsters said. "Although the end of the week will see quite a bit of cloud, and on and off rain showers in the south, the risk of severe weather is lessened." Rain is expected to develop during the morning, then clear in the afternoon, in Palmerston North, which is headed for 20C.
