The film is set to be a sequel to Kenneth Branagh's Murder on the Orient Express, which had an all-star cast including Michelle Pfeiffer, Johnny Depp, and Dame Judi Dench. The novel Death on the Nile centres on Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) investigating a tragedy on a luxurious cruise on the River Nile, as there's a murderer on board. The film is set to come against both Star Wars: Episode IX and the Wicked film, as both are released on the same day. Gadot is also to return to her titular role in Wonder Woman 1984 next year, which will see Chris Pine return alongside her. Death on the Nile is released on December 20, 2019.
