Furlough was launched on 20 April, since then 9.6million jobs have been protected - with an incredible £41.4billion paid out according to the latest HMRC figures. And it's people who work more hours and have higher salaries that benefit the most. And that means some people can get twice as much cash as when they were on furlough, despite working just three days a week. In fact, anyone earning £50,000 a year or more will do better than they did on furlough even just working the minimum 20% of normal hours. "Someone at the end of their career may even find themselves using this as the tipping point toward a phased retirement with reduced working hours."
