The unusual stand-off unfolded on Columba Ave, in the Dunedin suburb of Calton Hill, about 2.30am on Friday. The unwelcome intruder was cornered by a dog and the situation quickly escalated, Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said. The fugitive was removed from the house with a broom and "warned" for being on the property unlawfully.
