Sreekail gas field in Comilla's Muradnagar upazila Dhaka TribuneAuthorities say that the extraction could begin from next Monday or TuesdayTwenty million cubic feet per day (mcfd) gas can be supplied to the national grid as full fledged extraction is set to begin from a new level at well no 4 of the Srikail gas field in Comilla's Muradnagar upazila . "Previously the experimental extraction from the level has been 6 to 7 million cubic feet per day. Through our work for 55 days, we are estimating that the level has a total of 30 to 40 billion cubic feet of gas,” said Engineer Md Shahjahan, in-charge of the gas field on Friday. Currently two wells have been operating in the gas field since it first started extraction in 2013. Bangladesh currently has a demand of 3.7 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd), whereas the gas supply is 2.7bcfd, according to sources from the Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Limited (Bapex).
