Frost on Doi Inthanon, temperature drops to 1°CListen to this article(Photo: Doi Inthanon National Park)DOI INTHANON — The cold spell continues across northern regions of Thailand, with the temperature dropping to only 1°C at the summit of Doi Inthanon in Chiang Mai on Monday morning. The frigid weather allowed hoarfrost to form for the 41st time this winter season, breaking a decade long record. Temperatures at the mountaintop and Kew Mae Pan viewpoint hit 1°C for the second day in a row. Grass-level temperatures ranged between -0.1°C and 0.24°C, resulting in frost blanketing the grass, the parking area at the Doi Inthanon summit ranger station and around the Kew Mae Pan viewpoint. A steady influx of visitors continued during the day at Kew Mae Pan viewpoint, just a short walk away from Doi Inthanon summit.
