For the boy who had not set foot in a professional football club until the age of 18, and yet represented the Caribbean island 5,000 miles away, energy was an apt way of summing up the remarkable story of Denzel Dumfries. Named after the actor Denzel Washington, Dumfries is the footballer bringing Hollywood to Holland with a tale inspiring a new generation. “It is what we call a boy’s book in Holland because it is every boy’s dream what is happening with Denzel,” Alex Pastoor, who coached Dumfries at Sparta Rotterdam, told The Times
